Barbara Craig MSc, MBACP (Accred)
I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist working with individuals and Couples/Other relationships. I offer open-ended therapy and short term counselling to adults in either English or Polish.
My interest in psychotherapy started many years ago when I commenced my work with vulnerable people affected by crime, particularly survivors of domestic abuse. I appreciated the healing power of talking therapy and the benefits of making room to process complicated feelings and emotions whilst being true to ones' values. In the past several years, I have engaged in extensive therapeutic training, clinical work and my own journey of introspection and self-acceptance through my personal therapy.
The Way I Work
As an integrative therapist, I tailor my work to best suit my clients' unique, individual needs, drawing from various theoretical orientations. A trusting therapist-client relationship is a crucial part of therapeutic change. I offer a non-judgemental, safe and empathetic space where clients can freely explore their emotional struggles and problems in life. I strongly believe in diversity and provide multicultural support advocating dignity and value for all individuals. I respect and adhere to all aspects of the Equality Act 2010. I welcome individuals from all protected characteristics and ensure that their individual needs are adequately appreciated whilst providing my service. This includes any community members represented by age, disability, gender reassignment, religion, race, sex and sexual orientation.
I have vast experience in domestic abuse and coercive control, bereavement, loss, guilt, shame, disenfranchised grief, self-esteem, trauma, anxiety and depression, family issues, spirituality, women's issues, adoption. I gained this experience by supporting survivors of domestic abuse and parents who had their children permanently removed.
