Support for Parents and Carers

Parenting can be deeply rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming, confusing, or lonely—especially when your child is struggling emotionally or behaviourally. Many parents reach a point where traditional advice no longer works, and they need a space to better understand their child and feel supported themselves.

I offer a calm, confidential environment where parents can explore challenges, learn new approaches, and strengthen their relationship with their child. My work is grounded in trauma‑informed practice, attachment theory, and over six years of experience supporting families, foster parents, and children with complex emotional needs.

What I Offer

Therapeutic Parenting Guidance

For parents and carers of children who have experienced trauma, loss, or disrupted attachment, I provide practical, compassionate support in developing therapeutic parenting strategies. This includes:

  • Understanding the emotional needs beneath behaviour

  • Responding to dysregulation with confidence

  • Building routines that promote safety and predictability

  • Strengthening connection and trust

  • Reducing conflict and power struggles

  • Supporting nervous system regulation

This approach is especially helpful for foster parents, adoptive parents, kinship carers, and parents of children who are highly sensitive or anxious.

Emotional Support for Parents

Parenting a child with additional emotional or behavioural needs can be exhausting. I offer a reflective space where you can:

  • Talk openly without judgement

  • Process stress, frustration, or worry

  • Explore your own triggers and emotional responses

  • Build resilience and self‑compassion

  • Feel understood and supported

Many parents find that having a dedicated space for themselves improves the whole family dynamic.

Understanding Your Child’s Behaviour

Together, we make sense of what is happening beneath the surface. This may include:

  • Anxiety and worry

  • Emotional outbursts or shutdowns

  • Controlling or avoidant behaviours

  • Difficulties with transitions

  • Sleep or separation challenges

  • Sensory sensitivities

  • Attachment‑related patterns

I help you understand the “why” behind the behaviour so you can respond in ways that feel calmer, clearer, and more effective.

Support for Parents of Neurodivergent Children

I offer guidance for parents of children who are autistic, ADHD, or have sensory processing differences. This includes:

  • Understanding your child’s nervous system

  • Reducing overwhelm and meltdowns

  • Creating supportive routines

  • Adjusting expectations and communication

  • Building emotional safety and connection
